Oulu Regional Transport

The brand name Oulu Regional Transport (in Finnish Oulun seudun liikenne, briefly OSL) was adopted in the fall of 2022. Along with the brand update, the buses are now called “Onnikka” and the citybuses driving in the city centre are “Lähibussi”. Our goal is to create clear and easy-to-use public transportation. We will try to achieve that now and in the future with our development work. Our new brand name is a regional brand because our range of activity spans multiple areas. We want to show that public transportation is for everybody, and to encourage everyone to use our services more frequently.

You will recognize our buses from this sign:

Area of activity

Oulu Regional Transport’s area of activity includes Ii, Kempele, Liminka, Lumijoki, Muhos, Oulu, and Tyrnävä. The region is divided into five zones: A, B, C, D, and Lähi-zone which is located in Oulu’s immediate city centre. Ticket prices are determined by the number of zones and customer group. The services are funded mostly in shares by the member municipalities, and with state support. Approximately half of the revenue comes from ticket sales.

Oulu Regional Transport designs, organizes and supervises the public bus transportation activities bearing authoritative responsibility. We purchase the services from private transport companies.
